The photographic quality of light is noticeably better the further north you go. The improved clarity and the softness makes it feel like until now you've been shooting through a dirty filter. I'm not sure whether it is the cooler temperture, reduced humidity, less pollution or what but you notice it straight away and you miss it when you leave.
