frasersfotos is intentionally long on images and short on words, the photos will hopefully speak for themselves.
I am an amateur photographer who has in recent years become more interested in digital photography. I come from Scotland and now live in the Thames Valley, England.
This site is very much work in progress and documents some of my work as I experiment with specific styles, techniques and subject matter and more specifically work out what it is is that makes a good photograph. From the good and the great, my influences include Garry Winogrand, Henri Cartier-Bresson on the urban street, George Hurrell and Yousef Karsh for portraits, Ansel Adams for landscapes, Eugene Smith and Robert Doisneau more generally.
Thanks for dropping by and feel free to comment, I'm always looking for constructive criticism.
The more I take photographs the more I realise that its not the camera but the subjects in front of the lens and the photographer and their interpretation behind the lens that makes the photograph. So while the technogeek in me wants to list the camera body, lens and other bits of kit I have, I'm not sure it is of any real consequence. Suffice it to say that there are EXIF details with most of the images which list the camera I have used along with some lens details.
I've thought long and hard about this, ever since finding a photograph of mine displayed on someone elses blog I've tried to weigh up the pro's of having increased public exposure to my photographs versus the con's of losing control over presentation and possibly not being appropriately attributed. It's a tough call both sides have their advantages.
My current thinking is that all my images should be copyrighted with all rights reserved. If you would like to use one of my images please contact me and obtain my permission first.
